Self Evident Truths

Declaration of Independence In 1776 the Founding Fathers were compelled to defend themselves against the usurpation of their rights by the British Parliament. They acted to preserve their legal heritage and appealed to certain "self evident truths," that all men and civil government itself is under Law. They believed that Liberty could best be protected by a plurality of civil governments: local, county, state and federal.

The heart and genius of the American system is this plurality of governments checking and counterbalancing one another to insure each remains within its lawful jurisdiction, and even within this a division of powers. Today, however, all governments serve the federal government, and the division of powers collectively bows before the Judiciary.

The two major political parties, while they have significant differences, in the main have unity in rejecting the "self evident truths" of American jurisprudence and are in combination opposed to their juridical limitations.

Americans have experienced not merely a rapid erosion of their rights protected by our Constitutions, but the expansion of federal powers to an unprecedented level. A centralization that is hostile to American Liberties and attempts to unlawfully regulate every facet of American life.

The Constitution Party of Indiana has been formed by concerned Hoosiers, not as another political party to squabble over federal scraps, rather to engage in a Christian renewal of the citizenry to the meaning of self government and restore the historic American settlement to its lawful boundaries.
